Rose Ann Eager Blevins of Merced CA, died peacefully in her sleep on November 27, 2016 at her home with her husband Ray and other family members. She was born June 30, 1933 in Ogallala, NE. She is preceded in death by her first husband Dr. Earl B.Eager, second husband Joe Sabo and her parents Stanley, LaVerna Wujek and her brother Stanley and her aunt Mary Koch. Rose is survived by her brother Dan Wujek and sister Lavonne Ashwood.
Rose was raised in a sod house on a farm in Nebraska with no electricity or running water. She graduated from Trenton High school in 1951 and went on to become a registered nurse graduating from Mercy School of Nursing in Denver Colorado 1954.
Upon graduation, Rose worked as a traveling nurse where she met her first husband Dr. Earl B Eager the father of her nine children. She is survived by children Tom, Jim, Steve, Jeanne, Suzi, Beth, Kathy, Margie, Dan and their spouses and her 31 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
During her lifetime Rose was not only a nurse, a devoted wife and loving mother, but she was also actively involved in many community projects and events. While raising her family she found a passion for the arts while attending an art class at Merced Community College. At this time painting became a source of joy in her life. She went on to become an accomplished artist and was asked to become a member of the Society of Western Artist where she secured the prestigious Signature Award and the Best in Show of Award in her first 10 years as an artist.
Rose was one of the founding members of Arbor Gallery and the Multicultural Art Center. She took on many leading roles including President of the Merced County Arts Council. She was instrumental in bringing many highly recognized exhibits to the Art center where the artist could show their work and have it judged. This elevated the cultural experiences for all.
Family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Hinds Hospice and Palliative Care Center for their support in her final days.
