Andrew Robert Hitchcock, 79, died March 26, 2015 at home following a brief illness.
Andy leaves behind his wife Ernestine of 53 years, his Son David, His Brother Gilbert, five Grandchildren, and many beloved friends.
Andy was 11th generation American, coming from mixed European, but predominately English ancestors. He was born in Los Angeles CA, to Dean and Clarice Hitchcock. At age 4, the family moved to South Gate, CA, where Andy would live for 44 years.

Andy leaves behind his wife Ernestine of 53 years, his Son David, His Brother Gilbert, five Grandchildren, and many beloved friends.
Andy was 11th generation American, coming from mixed European, but predominately English ancestors. He was born in Los Angeles CA, to Dean and Clarice Hitchcock. At age 4, the family moved to South Gate, CA, where Andy would live for 44 years.
Andy graduated from South Gate High School in 1952, and joined the US Navy Reserve, and served 4 years. He soon went to work for North American Aviation, and was part of the Apollo Space program. At North American, Andy met his wife Ernestine, and was married in Las Vegas in 1963.
In 1979 Andy moved his family to Merced, CA, where after having a successful business for only a short time, was employed by Merced County as an intake interviewer, then promoted to Job Counselor, He enjoyed his final career very much, and was very fond of his colleagues. He retired in 2002.
After the loss of his beloved stepdaughter Jeanne, he and his wife traveled North America for several years.
Upon return from his travels, Andy became active in his retirement community and was an integral part of organizing a successful neighborhood watch program.
Andy loved Classic cars and enjoyed rebuilding them. He also enjoyed genealogy and through this interest, made several acquaintances around the world.
A memorial Service for Andrew will be held at Stratford and Evans 1490 B Street Merced CA, 95341 on April 18th 2015 at 2:00pm.
