Maria Rivas Perez was born May 1, 1918 in Mexico she was the youngest of four children born to Narcisso Rivas and Lena Jaime Rivas.
As a young girl, Maria loved to sing, dance and enjoyed spending time with her siblings. As a young woman, she was vivacious and social and on September 9, 1941, she married the love of her life Guadalupe Perez.
A few years after Maria and Guadalupe were married they moved to California where they raised their six children.

Maria Rivas Perez was born May 1, 1918 in Mexico she was the youngest of four children born to Narcisso Rivas and Lena Jaime Rivas.
As a young girl, Maria loved to sing, dance and enjoyed spending time with her siblings. As a young woman, she was vivacious and social and on September 9, 1941, she married the love of her life Guadalupe Perez.
A few years after Maria and Guadalupe were married they moved to California where they raised their six children.
Maria was the epitome of elegance, style, and grace. She was a caring and loving mother and wife and she welcomed all those who stepped through the door of her home.
Her family was her pride and joy and she commemorated every accolade, honor, recognition, and award her children and grandchildren earned. She always encouraged each of her children and her grandchildren to pursue their ambitions and made certain to equip them with the pillars of integrity, honesty, determination, and self-respect. She also threw in her comedic wisdom about life and the lessons were not only useful but timeless.
Maria enjoyed family fun and would participate in all family activities including dressing up for the annual Halloween parties. Maria loved nature and appreciated Gods tapestry. Some of the best times she spent were at Sandollar beach for the annual family vacation where she would would sit on the deck bask in the sun, take in the sunset or find amusement while her family played on the beach.
Maria loved the outdoors and would spend hours outside in her "jardin" during the spring, planting her flowers. She also had an affinity for birds and she love to hear them sing
Family unity and tradition was extremely important to Maria and the holidays gave her the perfect opportunity to celebrate her family and pass down family traditions. The true exemplar of her legacy will be found in the wisdom her family has, in the traditions that will continue in her honor and in the hearts of those who knew her
Maria is preceded in death by her father Narcisso Rivas, her mother Lena Jaime Rivas, her brothers Andres Rivas, Ignacio Rivas sister Dolores Rivas her grandson Darren Ross Perez and great grandson Jace Perez.
She is survived by her husband of 75 years Guadalupe Perez, her sons Abelardo R Perez (Rose Perez), Roger r Perez (Marie Hinesley) Diane Witt (Doug Witt), Xavier Perez (Christy Blakeman) Alice Ramirez (Joe Ramirez), Hope Perez, 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
