Clara was born in Magnolia, Texas, on February 8, 1926 to John and Mayme Vann, and passed away peacefully on August 30, 2017.
The family, to include her brothers Jimmy, Eugene, Chester and Willie, relocated from Texas to Chowchilla. Clara attended both grade school and high school in Chowchilla, and in her late teens met and married Eugene Broughton. They made Merced their home for the remainder of their lives together.
She spend a great deal of her adult life providing care for her mother Mayme, her great aunt Stella and her son Ronald, all with love and steadfast devotion.
Clara was a devout Christian, never missing a Sunday or Wednesday service until declining health prevented her attendance.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, her youngest son Ronald, as well as her brothers Jimmy, Eugene and Chester. She is survived by her son Charles (Linda), her brother Willie, her grandchildren Eric Broughton (Marisa) and Kimberly Flores (Albert) as well as her four great grandchildren, Matthew, Nicole, Abigail and Aubree.
Her family would like to express their love and gratitude to Clara's devoted care giver, Marie. We would have been lost without her support and dedication to Clara's care.
A private visitation will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home.Arrangements under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, Merced, CA.
